“Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds. You should not stay away from church meetings, as some are doing. But you should meet together and encourage each other…” (Hebrews 10:24-25 Everyday Bible)
The American Heritage Dictionary says this about the word “encouragement”; to inspire to continue on a chosen course; impart courage or confidence to; to give support to. And God’s Word says, “OK, now do it!” Do it to each other! Do it to each other all the time! In fact, it is one of the key reasons we are to gather together as the church, the Body of Christ.
I love being your pastor here at First Baptist. One of the many reasons for that love is your constant encouragement. You do a good job of keeping me on my feet (Job 4:4) and I thank you. Yet this same supporting love is to be shown to all our brothers and sisters.
I challenge you to cut off the form below – fill it out in seriousness and prayer and send it to someone in our church this week. Why not choose someone who rarely gets affirmation and the encouraging they need. Many of us leaders get more than our share – so pick out that “behind the scenes” person and impart courage and confidence to them.
And then choose to make this a continual practice in your Christian walk.
Brother Steve
